mother's day

after seeing these adorable painted can flower pots here on made, i decided to make something similar for the moms in our lives.

we picked some cans...

 used some paint samples from all the painting that's been going on over here...

got to some painting...

took a break while they dried...

taped off to add some chalkboard paint (which didn't come out nearly as crisp or smooth as i was hoping)...

added some holes on the bottom for drainage...

filled them with dirt...

and a couple of daisy seeds...

wrote a little message on them...

and they should be on their way to nj any day now :)

(next project with the cans?  cheap and easy herb garden!  what a great idea to use those cans... check them out on dos family or via made!)
